Beyond the Couch: Our Therapeutic “Sweet Spots”

Victoria

After years of working in creative fields, I shifted to social work as my second career and have never looked back. Yes, comedy writing, singing in musical theater, and pounding the pavement as an actress were fun, however; it pales compared to the reward of helping people in their healing. Working with kids and adolescents is what drew me to social work in the first place and remains my primary focus. My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space that allows for expressing big emotions, learning to navigate challenges, and discovering personal strengths and resilience. I am so grateful the population with whom I love working finds comfort, acceptance and increased self-confidence with me.

I have become increasingly focused on treating pediatric OCD in the past few years. My soft spot for supporting anxious kids has been longstanding and, when I began to see more and more kiddos struggling with both intrusive thoughts and compulsions, I realized I needed more training to fully serve this population. I’ve continued with numerous seminars and ongoing supervision to enhance my therapeutic approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), ACT and CBT.

I am also passionate about grief and loss, especially in the broader sense of these words. When we hear the word grief, we tend to think about the death of a loved one. There are many things in life, though, that are debilitating losses – the loss of physical health, leaving behind a life chapter, experiencing a significant change that leaves us grieving “what could have been.” Grief is sneaky, unpredictable, and society can make us feel pressured to say we are fine long before we truly feel that way. Ample training and my own lived experience help to provide compassion, empathy, and support for each client’s unique experience of loss.

I’ve been a therapist for over 15 years, trained in CBT, DBT, and currently working toward EMDR certification. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many people through their healing journeys. Beyond the training and credentials, what truly motivates me is helping clients feel seen, understood, and more in control of their lives.

I work primarily with women—especially those navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, or significant life changes. I love helping clients reconnect with their authentic selves beneath the weight of external pressures and expectations. I’m also deeply passionate about supporting neurodivergent women—whether autistic, ADHD, or both—many of whom have spent years trying to “fit in” or hide parts of themselves. Together, we focus on unmasking, cultivating self-compassion, and building a life that aligns with how their brains naturally work.

A big part of my heart is with first responder and law enforcement families. Growing up in that world, I understand how much often goes unspoken and how heavy that burden can be. Whether you wear the uniform or love someone who does, therapy with me is a space to be real, to vent, to heal, and to find balance again.

My style is warm, honest, and down-to-earth. I’ll hold space for the hard stuff—but don’t be surprised if my sense of humor sneaks out too. Sometimes laughter is just as important as tears in healing.

Warmth, authenticity, connection, and a good dose of laughter are the cornerstones of my practice. I believe deeply in establishing and nurturing a safe, trusting relationship with every client because it's through genuine connection that true healing blossoms. As the incomparable Dolly Parton wisely put it in Steel Magnolias, "laughter through tears is my favorite emotion."

I was raised by a strong, independent single mother, Bettianne—the incredible inspiration behind Betty Center - who taught me that strength, perseverance, dignity, hard work, and caring for others are the true pillars of life. These values are infused not only into my practice but into who I am as a person.

I have extensive experience working with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, relational challenges, and past trauma. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices yet I also firmly believe there's no one-size-fits-all solution. My commitment is to forge a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel truly safe, understood, and heard.

I specialize in guiding my clients through major life transitions—separation, divorce, empty-nesting, the shift from college to adulthood. These are often times when we find ourselves questioning, doubting, or simply wondering about our path forward. I am skilled at helping clients unearth the complex and challenging relational dynamics that impact their unique experiences. Those "AH-HA!" moments, when clarity emerges from what was previously unknown, are the ones I cherish most in my practice.
